God Has Called Us to Continue the Mission of Jesus
Following His resurrection, Jesus commissioned His disciples to go into the world, making disciples of all nations, baptizing them, and teaching them to observe all He commanded (Matthew 28:19-20). The book of Acts reveals how God's magnificent salvation plan, fulfilled through Jesus' life, death, resurrection, and ascension, continues to unfold through His Spirit-empowered church as the message of salvation spreads from Jerusalem to the ends of the earth (Acts 1:8).
We believe every follower of Christ is called to be His personal ambassador (2 Corinthians 5:20), representing Him in our daily lives and interactions. Our mission extends beyond merely awaiting Christ's return—we affirm that God's Kingdom isn't just a future reality but has already been inaugurated on earth through Christ (Acts 2).
While we eagerly anticipate the complete fulfillment of God's Kingdom on Earth at Christ's return, we remain hopeful and expectant about what the church can accomplish for God's glory until that day comes. As the community of First Baptist Jackson, we understand our fundamental purpose is to actively participate in God's mission in the world.
Through our words and actions, we continue the work Jesus began, bringing hope, healing, and the good news of salvation to our community and beyond.
